Water Mist FTL Systems extinguish fires by the rapid cooling of surface areas and the reduction of oxygen at the flame front.
As water expands around 1700 times in the phase transition from water to steam the amount of oxygen available for combustion is diluted to a level where the fire is extinguished right at the flame front. As the speed of heat absorption is a function of surface area and not volume, the small water mist droplets represent a large combined surface area and provide rapid heat absorption.
Additionally, water vapour will attenuate radiation to limit the propagation of fire to other areas while at the same time diminishing the overall heat radiation throughout the room.

Water Mist removes toxins and smoke from the atmosphere - 'smoke scrubbing' to prevent smoke damage and danger to people.
Systems can be designed as either open deluge with High Sensitivity Smoke Detectors incorporated into the system or as 'wet' systems whereby nozzles are fitted with bulb detectors to operate on an individual risk.
Both of the above can be used in either a 'cylinder system' whereby there is a finite amount of water stored or in a pump system generally used on larger risks.
Both 'Cylinder' and 'Pump' systems can be utilised in multi - risk applications where more than one risk is protected from a single water supply, sized to the largest risk. This system incorporates directional valves to provide a very economic solution to fire protection.
Full integrity of the enclosure is not as important as with gas systems, as the water mist will continue to be as effective.
